Oceanvein at Pump House Studios - Louth, Lincolnshire - Taken by Waldo Fox Kennedy - 2024
Diving into the depths and delights of modern heavy music, Oceanvein boasts an outrageously ambitious collective of creative explorers. Since its humble inception as a passion project between lifelong friends Lucas Colyer and David Mackay, Oceanvein has expanded to a full-on cabal of deeply motivated comrades.
Blending hypnagogic textures and enchanting melodies with a dose of disgustingly heavy riffs, their oeuvre will commence in 2025 with huge releases and pulse-pounding live shows. If you have any interest in the state of modern rock music, you need to check these guys out!
But just who are these mysterious individuals?
Spearheading the creative department is lead guitarist David Mackay. Originally from Southend-on-Sea, David possesses an innate power to drive emotions through music. Soaring harmonies punctuate resonant arrangements, climbing high to mind melting solos and experimental passages which leave onlookers perplexed, yet amazed.
Sitting behind them is Tomasz Nowakowski. The Poland-born drummer professes a decade of experience, and he will not hold back. Occasionally likened to an artillery barrage, his grooves are as complex as they are overwhelming.
Finally, delivering a choral sweetness to the mix is Southend-on-Sea’s Lucas Colyer. Whether it be his angelic high notes, his attitude-soaked rapping, or boom-bap beatboxing, Lucas never fails to enrapture. His energetic stage presence commands all, with a relatability that’ll make concertgoers fall in love.

By his side stands the great Troy Hutchinson, whose rhythmic riffing brings the bounce to any crowd. Hailing from the icy north of Lincolnshire, he is the most experienced member of the band. Troy’s guitar prowess is gonna make you move, if not, you can have your money back.
Another of Lincolnshire’s favourite sons, Joseph Rice-Mundy’s bodacious bass brings the power to the rhythm section. Joe keeps everyone together, holds down the grooves, lays down the melodies, and keeps the show screaming on.
These are the minds behind the music. Here they stand nascent in an artistic, personal, and spiritual journey. As Oceanvein, they seek to make music that entrances and inspires. Join them in their long awaited, life-defining journey
DEEP BENEATH THE SURFACE.
If It Kills Me
Our Debut Single is out NOW.

August 2025 will forever be marked as the month Oceanvein were truly revealed to the world. Following a series of roadblocks, setbacks, and a whole re-recording, If It Kills Me is the zenith of their first year as a band. The crushingly haunting track will debut on City Sound Radio, followed by a rollout on all reputable streaming services (and some dodgy ones).
Demonic, ruthless, transcendent, If It Kills Me will be accompanied by an equally uncompromising music video. Shot and directed by David Carter, and starring Leila-Lily Brignall as a sadistic possessing wraith, the film is beset by fell temptations, dingy locales, and serves as a perfect companion to the group’s restless creative spirit.
Few releases this year will be quite as monumental; quite as cerebral; or frankly, quite as enjoyable as this one.
You can save it now on your streaming service of choice.
